“The force that unites the elements to become all things is Love, also called Aphrodite; Love brings together dissimilar elements into a unity, to become a composite thing. Love is the same force that human beings find at work in themselves whenever they feel joy, love and peace.” – Empedocles
In myth, Aphrodite and springtime are forever woven together—carrying the promise of hope, of lush new beginnings, and of bonds growing between people, strong enough to withstand even the most terrible winter. Elena and Constantinos have one such bond, and at their lovely wedding in Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus, I got to see it immortalised, enshrined while overlooking the legendary birthplace of the Goddess of love and beauty.

I met Elena and Constantinos back in early 2015, and we hit it off immediately; from the first moment, I could see the light of love in their eyes, and I knew both myself and my camera would connect with them beautifully. This was proven true the first time we worked together; if you have been following my blog for a while, you will remember their picturesque pre-wedding photoshoot at Aphrodite Hills, where I had the opportunity to capture them looking calm and at peace in one another’s arms as the sun drifted lazily over the horizon.

Weddings are often a time of stress as well as joy, so I was surprised and delighted to find the same calm and friendly aura still surrounded them when I was called to shoot their spring marriage ceremony. A day before the wedding itself, I was invited along to the pre-wedding party as though I were an old friend, and we all talked and laughed together at a friend’s villa while enjoying the most mouthwatering burgers I think I have ever had (courtesy of the Burger Truck they brought along).
Naturally, I woke up the next day in great spirits, ready to photograph the couple as they got ready to wed—Elena at her parent`s house and Constantinos at the Aphrodite Hills Resort. There, at the place where two plateaus meet overlooking a winding ravine and the life-giving waters of the sea, Constantinos awaited his own Goddess: The smiling bride whose heart is forever beckoning the warmth, freedom, and gentleness of sweet springtime.
