This week’s blog article focuses on a beautiful christening which took place on the 1st March, 2014. The protagonist of our shoot, baby Maria, was due to be christened under the loving gaze of her parents, Iuliana and Razvan, her two year old brother, Alexandru and of course, the family and friends of the proud parents. I was lucky enough to be present to capture some wonderful christening photography in Nicosia.

Back in 2012 we shot christening photography in Nicosia for Alexandru’s christening, which was also held at St. Paul’s Church. Iuliana and Razvan were very proud parents and the ceremony was also conducted by the same priest that christened Maria.

Having already met Iuliana and Razvan, I knew what sort of christening shots they desired and had some creative ideas in mind that would leave them with some fantastic, long-lasting memories of their baby girl’s special day. Although the day was a little overcast that didn’t stop us from capturing some stunning shots of this very important day, including plenty of pictures of Maria in her adorable christening outfit.

Little Maria was patient throughout the ceremony as the priest dutifully carried out the service. After he baptised Maria in the round copper bath, she was dressed in the traditional white christening attire that symbolises a fresh new start for the child as a newly baptised person.

However Maria’s clothing also included some wonderful red detailing including red trimming on her hat, dress and jacket as well as little red diamantes on her shoes and dress. Her dress also included an embossed ‘M’ on the cuff of her dress, which was a lovely finishing touch to the entire outfit.

To complement her outfit Maria’s parents and Godparents all incorporated the colour red into their outfits. There was also red detailing on Maria’s christening box and candle.

My most treasured shot is of Iuliana and Razvan embracing Maria as Alexandru places a loving hand on his sister’s head. The picture is symbolic as we took exactly the same shot two years earlier – but with Iuliana and Razvan embracing their newly christened son, Alexandru.

After a very exciting day little Maria was so exhausted from all the activity that she fell asleep in the arms of her Godfather.

This christening photography in Nicosia was a pleasure to shoot and it was delightful to see this loving family christen their second child surrounded by all their loved ones. It was a magical day filled with love, happiness and emotion.
